What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Force Energy". Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of healing and self-improvement that can be experienced by everyone, everywhere. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely experience illness, stress, anxiety, depression, and so many other possible ailments. If our Energy is in balance we will experience positive feelings such as happiness and peace of mind as well as good health.
Reiki treats each person in totality - body, emotions, mind, spirit, bringing about so many beneficial effects including:
Feelings of happiness, security, wellbeing, peace
Relaxation and the ability to destress
Feeling energized and radiant
In many cases a new client is surprised at how happy, peaceful and well they feel. Happily, they continue to feel the positive effects of the Reiki long after the session is over as Reiki continues to work its magic beyond the practitioner's office. Reiki has been found to be extremely effective in helping virtually every illness and malady known to man - and probably even a few unknown too!! Reiki is and always should be used in conjunction with a doctor's medical care. It complements modern medical care by aiding, often hastening, physical healing after illness, injury and surgery. Reiki is used to alleviate, soothe and may even heal many ailments such as:
* headaches * stomach issues * pregnancy, infertility and childbirth * back issues * asthma * respiratory problems * PMT
* menstrual problems * sinus * anxiety * fatigue * chronic pain * fibromyalgia * sciatica * ulcers * depression
* emotions of guilt, grief or anger * pre & post surgery * side effects of cancer treatments *Hospice * And Much More....
Reiki can also break through painful memories and bring about a renewed peace of heart and calmness of mind and help the heart open up like a flower to experience the beautiful wonder of life and love.
While no one can guarantee the outcome of a Reiki session, Reiki always works for the Highest Good of the person or animal receiving it.
Reiki is NOT a religion - there is nothing you must believe in order to receive Reiki as an alternative therapy. Reiki is not dependent upon any belief system whatsoever, and it will work on you whatever your race, cultural beliefs, or creed, whether you are young or old, person or animal, in person or far away, whether you believe in Reiki or any alternative healing therapy, or not. It has been extremely successful for hundreds of thousands of people wordwide, and is growing in popularity every day. Many hospitals now have Reiki practitioners provide Reiki healing treatments to patients in the hospital as do many hospices and nursing homes. Because of the nature of the healing and the treatment it cannot make any situation worse and can only improve a person's quality of life on all levels.
Personally, I will always stress that my Reiki practice is not meant to replace the treatments received by your doctor or surgeon and I encourage my clients to use Reiki in addition to your doctor's diagnosis and treatment. Any Reiki practitioner or alternative therapy practitioner should never discourage you from receiving medical treatment. To do so can be detrimental to your health!
What happens during a Reiki session?
The client will lie on a comfortable surface, preferably a massage table, fully clothed. If a client is not able to lie on a table a comfortable chair is used during the session instead. I use lighting, music and meditation to help the client relax. I may also use aromatherapy and healing stones, if I feel it is needed. During the session I will begin the flow of energy through my hands using the standard hand positions. There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions.
At times the hands are even held away from the body. The energy flows where it is most needed and Reiki does not stop when the treatment stops! As you go about the remainder of your day the energy will continue to flow targeting those areas where it continues to be most needed.
What will I feel during a Reiki treatment?
Some people feel warmth, some deeply relax. Others may feel waves of energy, tingling or vibrations. Others yet, may feel nothing but the warmth of the practitioner’s hands. In many instances a person will feel some combination of the above. Rest in the knowledge that you don’t have to feel anything for Reiki to work. Reiki works!
